Need answers on this health issue

justme

It all started about a month or so ago. My husband began having horrible chest pains and was sure he was having a heart attack. He went to the doctor and was told it was anxiety attacks (no tests were ran). He was given a prescrition for Lorazapam. This didn’t help and the pains were getting worse. He was being awoken in the middle of the night from them they were getting so bad. He went back to the doctor and was then told that it was hypokalmia. The doctor advised my husband to drink Ensure. The pain was getting worse and was now accompanied by other syptoms including rapid heart rate, nausea, dizziness, shaky hands, fatigue, confusion and weight loss (unexplained.) He was then referred to a cardiologst and multiple tests were ran and he was told his heart was fine. He was then given Paxil and told it was panic attacks. Since then he has gotten signifiacantly worse. New symptoms are pain in the spine, still the original pain in the chest (only getting worse each day). He is still waking up at night with these pains. He is also suffering slight tremors in the hand, headaches, nausea, feels like he is going to pass out when he yawns, unsteady balance, insomnia, extreme weakness (he can barely grip and hold onto things and feels like his knees are going to give out), fatigue, loss of appetite, and tonight he said he felt like his body was on fire and he passed out. He is currently in Iraq and does not know how long he was passed out as no one was around him. His doctors are now saying it could be a thyroid problem and they have ordered the following blood tests to be ran tomorrow: CBC, Chem Panel 12, TSH T-3 and TSH T-4. Any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. His resources are limited and we need to try to steer the doctors in the right direction.

drop health insurance, or drop classes.HELP?

Michael

hi, im a college freshman, and i’m trying to get into chiropractic college after next year, my first semester gpa was a 3.4, all u need for chiro college is a 2.3, but this semester i’ve had a long list of neurological problems IE multiple pinched nerves, tremors, fasiculations, things that NEED to be addressed asap, and do to my doctors visits, and them switching me off of my add meds that i’ve been on for 10 years and expecting me to be able to maintain my schoolwork, i’m pretty much failing two classes. theyre not hard classes IE trigonometry, and some stupid computer class..but i cant have that on my gpa, but NEED health insurance right now badly.

if i was healthy i A. wouldn’t be in this situation and B. would just drop the classes if i was, but im wondering since i was enrolled as a fulltime student at the beginning of the semester, if i drop the two does my insurance find out, or can i get in touch with them and take them both this summer, because that would be over 24 credit hours this year, it would be 27, and 24 is whats needed for ins but i also hear that you NEED to be a ‘fulltime student’ for both winter and fall semesters.

i already tried speaking with my professors and they dont want to listen

HELP PLEASE

I need some health advice! Please?

First details about myself: I am 18, weight 210 pounds have asthma. I have a family of health freaks and eat only good stuff fruit every night, veggies for dinner, fish, etc.

Since the beginning of last summer, I have had problems getting an erection. This started when my friend punched me in the balls. So i took a shower and tested everything and it was fine. Then the next day i started to feel different, i started having a low sex drive and erection problems. I couldn’t get an erection without masturbating and my interest in sex felt oddly different. So i started to worry. Since at camp i am the digital media technician i had access to a computer and searched a bunch of problems blah blah blah. I also had groin pain. So when i got back from camp i went to the urologist. I had a very nasty uti that took a month and half of antibiotics to get rid of. I told him about the erection problem and said it was probably psychological. I took a bunch of cat-scans and blood tests and a hormone test. They all turned out ok.

So i came home. Still couldn’t get an erection and kept worrying. Now a few months ago i went to a funeral for my cousins grandpa. That day i had terrible unexplainable chest pains and couldn’t breath. I felt dizzy and part of it was probably due to anxiety or emotional stress. Since then i have i haven’t been able to breath well. A week later i started getting chest pains in both my right and left side of my chest. I went to my doctor and he said its nothing just anxiety.

Now, starting a few weeks ago i feel a pressure in my head when i tilt my head back i feel like i am popping bubbles in my head. I sleep for 7-8 hours and am still tired. I also get random tremors around my body. Now, every day since last summer i have been looking up symptoms and problems on the internet and have been asking a bunch of questions on this site lol. Now i want to accept that i am a hypochondriac just so i can get over it. But i worry that i have sleep apnea, anemia or any other disease.

Am i going crazy and becoming way too worried that i am damaging my mental health. Or should i actually be concerned about my health and see another doctor? If this is all due to anxiety. How the hell do i overcome it! I just don’t know. When i masturbate my penis becomes erect but my head of the penis just stays flaccid and if i don’t touch it it just goes back down. How do i overcome this anxiety so i can just be how i used too! I don’t want to live like this.

Please let me know if you think i am good and just need to relax and stay away from the internet. Or if i should go see another doctor. My pediatrician told me i’m healthy, my parents general doctor told me i’m healthy and my urologist told me nothing is wrong. I just don’t know how to overcome these problems.

I am a very socially active guy. I love my life. I have great ambition for my future. I just don’t exercise enough. I don’t want to live as a hypochondriac.
Thanks in advance!

Does anyone else have to take magnesium and get relief for several health issues?

JustGemmy

I am in the process of still trying to find out what is going on with my own health with my new physician. Where I used to live I had a Magnesium deficiency on a couple occasions and was hypokalemic. I did not take any supplementation at that time. In the last six months I have been taking supplements on my own for relief of several symptoms that had plagued me for years. My blood tests have been normal for electrolytes since I take supplements on a regular basis. At one point, I was falling down, having panic attacks, weak, and still battle this with tremor, muscle twitching, cramping, etc. I also had IBS for years. I suffered pain all the time, and still do battle with this. However…the magnesium itself seems to be the culprit. Have any of you had great physical and mental relief at all from just a supplement? When I can afford it I take natural calm or slow mag.
Peace
Oh and I forgot to add. I also had what looked to be seizures even though they were not. My heart beat goes bananas and I get weak and depressed with much fatigue. I can tolerate very high amounts up to 1200-1400 mg elemental a day if need be without having to run to the bathroom. It is good, but frustrating not knowing what is wrong.
I could not even hardly walk anymore a little over two years ago. I was falling every ten steps or so and this actually caused me to mess up my back. I am sorry your mom is having trouble too. A lot of jobs make it hard for people to be able to go to the doctor and if you need surgery you are screwed. Hope she feels better. Thanks…
Iodine deficiency and folic acid? I didn’t know there was an iodine deficiency. I seriously have no problems with IBS anymore since taking the magnesium. I get really sick (weak, funny heart rate, etc) when I am not taking it after so many days. I do not have to take such a high amount all the time. I do take the citrate form in Natural Calm. Oxide doesn’t work as well for me. I also am on prescription Vitamin D. Thanks again to all those who have answered so far. This is really a big issue for me.

sound like medication/mental health related or not?

BY A THREAD

hello i have been taking these drugs: 60mg of Cymbalta once a day and Topamax 100mg once a day. i have clinical depression and anxiety disorder and been on cymbalta for almost 6 months and topamax about 3 or so weeks now. anyways, at night time for the past week while i am in a deep sleep i been waking up with involuntary tremors in my legs and arms my head will also turn slowly from side to side. my lips will blow very fast and i can’t stop them, it’s a pretty strange sight LOL. This all occurs for about 1-2 minutes and then stops, I’m aware it’s occurring but can’t stop it all until my body “releases” me from it. I am disoriented for a few minutes afterward but then fine. I start reading online about tardive dyskinesia — does any of these symptoms sound like that and can be related to these drugs or not? doctors found a small cyst on my brain unrelated to the mental illness could that be causing these strange symptoms? ty.

How do I help my wife get better health care response from her Doctors?

Dale S

For the last year my 39 yr old active wife’s health has declined to; to exhausted to get off the couch. Every test she takes they find some little problem. Ok quick list of issues. Most drastic 6 months ago her weight was 135 (5’6) size 8. As of Jan 1 09 119 size 4 (still loosing too). This is after holiday meals, and well lots of fast food because I don’t cook much. She will bruise all over her legs, and she can feel a popping under her skin where a bruise will show up later. She is exhausted all the time, her eye sight will go fuzzy on her for no reason, migraines, muscle lumps in arms, and legs that are hard to rub out. Swollen glands under her arm pits, sometimes groin area, sometimes swelling will happen right below her neck on her chest. Sometimes it will be 7 or more days before she can have a bowl movement, even with fiber. At those points even her skin hurts. She gets out of breath easy, and tires easy. Sometimes she has tremors in her arms where they shake. She was given b12 shot, tested for thyroid, AC1, and myacemia gravis. The last doctor tried to tell us it is in her head. But I have seen this decline, this is real. She has some good days that she runs herself ragged on because she is afraid of the next day being a bad one. She is not depressed because if she can’t walk she tries to paint or write to keep her mind sharp. She is just doing everything via couch or bed.
Her aunt died this year of ALS that took doctors 10 years to figure out, and now my wife is scared she has it too.. Please help if you can.
My wife thinks Lupus too. But we are stuck within the bounds of our HMO PCM staff and not well off enough to pay out of pocket else where.
oh forgot to mention.. she runs random fevers, and she seized so bad from just a 101 temp I had to call 911..
seeking something deeper that Psy Dr. we have done that.. they care less than regular doctors. They just want her to try psy meds to see if they help. but we risk adding symptoms. lymphnodes under her armpits are as big as walnuts under left side today.. and as far as we can tell so is glad on her chest too.. Lupus fits but so did cronic fatigue..
