My dogs leg involuntarily kicks while laying down every few seconds?

tremor

My 10 year old dogs leg keeps kicking while laying down. It does this a few times a minute for at least 5 seconds per spasm. It’s not shaking or a tremor but kicking as if he’s scratching. He does this even while asleep all night long. Anyone have any thoughts?
I should add that he does this while awake as well. It’s non-stop.

Thanks,
Amber

It could be the start of arthritis or it could be a dream. People even do weird things in their sleep (like scratching), so I wouldn’t worry too much. Keep a close eye on your pup and see how he is when walking on the grown, walking up/down stairs and jumping down of the couch/bed.

My dog does this too when she sleeps, but not as often. I think she’s dreaming. Has your dog always done this? Mine’s done it for as long as I’ve had her, and sometimes she’ll even wake me up by whimpering and crying out in her sleep. If it’s just started recently, and you’re worried about him, I’d take him to the vet.
