He wakes up screaming bloody murder and with big alligator tears in his eyes. He wont let me soothe him he pushes me away. The only thing i cna do is give him a bottle but he doesnt even drink it all maybe half an ounce and then he wakes up fine laughign ang merry as ever. does anyone know what this could be? I hope it is not night tremors cuz he is so young.

With night tremors the child never awakes.

Sounds like he is a trained night waker. He’s getting rewarded by doing this when you give him the bottle. To stop the behavior you’ll need to stop giving him the bottle at night. By four months a bottle fed baby does not need to eat in the night. Instead, pat him on his bottom, turn the mobile on, lay him back down and walk out.

It will take some time and patience. But, with consistancy it will work. This book has helped me aviod many problem areas with my little guy (now 10 months). It’s as close to a parenting manual as I found. And, provides practical advice for raising an infant, toddler, preschooler all the way up to a teenager who won’t do their homework.

I’d recomend taking him in to have his ears checked. Waking at night and being generally inconsolable during that time is one of the big signs of an infection. Something about lying flat makes it more painful. It also fits with the not wanting to drink, because if he does have an infection, the sucking and swallowing will hurt him. How long has this been going on? I don’t think night tremors are that common, but, anything’s possible. Get him checked out.

Your baby is soooo adorable!!!!!! This is normal. Some babies wake up and feel they need to blow off some steam. My girlfriends baby did this and she took him to the docs and he said it is very common. Sometimes the just need to relieve frustration, unfortunately for my friend it was only at night. Sounds like you have yourself a night hawk!!!!

my little girl did the same thing and yes it dose scare you when you hear them cry like that and just to see the size of their tears.

Try taking his blanket and put it around him and walk around the room with him that seemed to be the only way I could get my little girl to relax and go back to sleep was by moving around the room.

It’s not night temors it’s night terrors. It’s very possible, and he should be seen by a doctor because it is a form of petite maul (seizure) that he is having and needs to be assesed. The best thing you can do is sooth him calmly, until he either falls back asleep or naturally wakes. There is nothing you can really do about them and children generally grow out of them by their teen years or sooner.

This could very well be Night Tremors. The big difference between tremors and someone just having bad dreams is that when someone is having night tremors the dreams usually continue for a lil while after they wake up because the brain takes a while to catch up and realize that they are awake so in fact after they wake up they are still dreaming a lil. This is not something to neglect because being left alone it can last for a lifetime. Although most of the time this is related to stress as adults we don’t think kids life’s can be stressful, who are we to judge what is stressful to another person. Some people are not stressed out about much of what happens in life while others are stressed out about waking up in the morning. Try talking to a sleep disorder clinic, and while your baby might be to young for them to deal with they will probably have some referrals for you but this is going to be a hard problem to work out because of the age and no communication skills. The only thing I can suggest at this time that YOU can do is not to try and sooth him just be there for him. When he wakes up like that he could be relating you to part of his dream if you are trying to touch him just go and sit by him and let him know you are there but give him his space until he calms down or wakes up all the way. Dreams can be more real to people then a person being awake remembers. I always tell people when they say that their kids are going thru the Monsters under the bed or Monsters in the closet to not tell their kids leave me alone they are not real or anything like that to them because to the kids they are very much real. I know I still have monsters under my bed I have just learned what scares them more then they scare me.
