How come the gift shop in the club penguin mission mysterious tremors doesn’t stay?

I shook the barrel with cream soda and put it under the gift shop, but it only stayed for like 2 seconds and it wouldn’t let me get into my inventory to get the net, nails, and hammer.
My computer must be slow that’s probably why the gift shop falls back down again. But I’m not sure about that.
How do you get past the mysterious tremors mission on club penguin?
